The Ribbon is a $1 billion redevelopment in Darling Harbour, featuring a new Imax theatre, retail spaces, a revitalized public domain, and a 25-storey hotel, recognized as the largest W Hotel globally. The project faced challenges from insolvent builders, with Essence steering it back on track.
Key objectives included achieving key milestones for the hotel and Imax theatre while addressing contractual, financial, and program-related risks. Essence focused on completing the project through multiple Principal Contractors and administering the project through COVID as well as navigating complexities from previous builder insolvencies.
Essence provided independent certifier services under the D&C contract and the agreement for lease between Greaton and Place Management NSW. Services included time, cost, compliance, and completion assessments, procurement advice, cost management, contractual management, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring project success despite challenges.
