Essence Project Management is delighted to announce that it has just completed its graduate intake for 2016. A huge number of applications were received. Our star graduate Tom Delahunt was recently interviewed by MD David Nicholas. See his thoughts and comments below on Sydney’s most progressive Project Management company.

– Why did you join Essence?

When I spoke to James and David about joining Essence, their enthusiasm and passion for project management was extremely visible. Their vision for Essence to be a company with all of the experience and knowledge of any large multinational organisation, but the flexibility, innovation and eagerness of a start-up really appealed to me and Essence certainly didn’t disappoint upon arrival.

– What you have enjoyed so far?

Essence has a great culture, paired with an excellent work ethic and drive to succeed. It’s a contagious atmosphere. I’ve really enjoyed this aspect of the role, along with being immersed in really interesting and complex projects right from day one.

– What is important for young people in the industry today?

I believe people entering the industry, like myself, should search for opportunities that will challenge and lead them towards personal as well as professional growth. It is crucial to distinguish between opportunities, where you will have a chance to thrive and progress, and stagnant stationary positions. At the early stage of your career, sacrificing that comfort and stagnation for potential and development is extremely important. It is in this early stage of your career where you can really afford to take these risks.

– Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Over the coming years, I aim to be leading large, complex projects in Sydney’s development and construction sector.

– How would you describe yourself?

I am a recent graduate of UNSW where I completed a Master of Property and Development. Prior to studying at UNSW, I worked as an Assistant Development Manager in Ireland. I consider myself to be a results-orientated and target-driven individual and I aim to utilise my skills and experience to be a valuable asset to my clients.
